The first steps

What will all change? How does a pregnancy progress ?

What can I already pay attention to? Do I need to change my lifestyle or eating habits ? Etc...

During the first meeting, your medical file will be drawn up and other practical matters will be discussed.

A positive pregnancy test! And what now?

You can contact the midwife at the moment of a positive pregnancy test!

After this urine test, the pregnancy is determined by taking a blood sample; Other blood values are also screened immediately, such as thyroid, liver tests, antibodies against toxoplasmosis, rubella, etc.

During your pregnancy you are entitled to 12 home visits from a midwife.

The midwife monitors the pregnancy and carries out the necessary checks to rule out complications. If complications are identified, the pregnancy will be followed up alternately with consultations with the doctor.

What does the consultation entail?

* Monitoring blood pressure , weight and performing urine tests

* Measuring the womb height to monitor the growth of your baby

* Listen to the baby's heart tones

* Determining the baby's position

* Blood screening  (if necessary) and the sugar test

* Prescribing certain drugs if necessary

* Diagnosis labor

Je kan de vroedvrouw contacteren op het moment van een positieve zwangerschapstest!

Na deze urinetest, wordt de zwangerschap vastgesteld via een bloedafname; er worden meteen ook aandere bloedwaarden gescreend zoals schildklier, levertesten, antistoffen tegen toxoplasmose, rubella etc.
